Fundasaun Mahein (FM) hanesan organizasaun sosiedade sivil ne’ebé hala’o monitorizasaun, peskiza no advokasia ba setor seguransa iha Timor-Leste desde tinan 2009. Iha tinan 2017 FM monitoriza eventu boot rua maka eleisaun ba Prezidente Repúblika no Eleisaun Parlamentar ne’ebé liu dadauk ne’e. Monitoring Report for the 2017 Parliamentary Election

Fundasaun Mahein (FM) is a Civil Society Organization (CSO) which conducts monitoring, research and advocacy relating to Security Sector Development (SSD) in Timor-Leste since 2009. In 2017 FM monitored the 2017 Timor-Leste Presidential and Parliamentary Elections. FM’s monitoring was conducted within electoral rules, independently and not in support of any political parties. 15 FM staff were accredited electoral observers registered with the Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE).
The 2017 Parliamentary Election campaigning period ran for one month from June 20th to July 19th 2017, allowing political parties to present their policy platforms throughout Timor-Leste. 22 July was election day, wherein Timorese citizens where able to exercise their democratic participation in the electoral process.
This Report will detail FM’s monitoring of campaigning activities, voting, counting and the final tabulation from the National Election Commission (CNE). FM believes that our monitoring and recommendations can contribute to safe and democratic elections in Timor-Leste in the future.
